Proceeds from this event will benefit Keep Florence Beautiful and Lynches River County Park.
In addition, a portion of the proceeds is also being earmarked to help keep parts
of Lynches River clear of debris so that everyone can continue to enjoy the river.
First stage of the race is a 5K trail run through Lynches River County Park. After crossing the checkpoint racers will proceed to the boat staging area where they will get in their boats for the second stage of the race. A 5 mile paddle down Lynches River.
Individual – the racer must complete the 5k trail run and paddle 5 miles down the river.
Relay Team – the paddler must wait for their partner who is running to reach them and hand off timing baton before bringing their boat to the water.
Tandem Team - each team member runs the trail run. The team member that finishes first must wait on the second team member to finish the run portion of the race before bringing their boat (2-person Tandem Kayak) to the water.
Fun Float - For those that don't want to run, we offer the option to paddle down the river while racers compete. The fun float is not timed but includes a t-shirt.
At the end of the 5-mile paddle, there will be a timing boat on the right side of the river at the landing that will record the end time. Volunteers and staff will assist participants with getting their boats out of the river.
Participants will then board a shuttle that will take them back to the park. A boat shuttle will shuttle boats to the designated pickup area at the park. All rented boats and equipment will be turned in at the landing.
The park, trails are landing are open during the event for spectators.
If you do not have a kayak, kayak Rentals will be available through Lynches River County Park and River Rats and must be reserved in advance. Kayak rentals include PFD’s,paddles & whistles. If a participant rents a kayak, it will be at the race start along with equipment and will be picked up from the take-out at the bridge.
All paddlers are required, in accordance with SC State Law, to wear a personal flotation device at all times throughout the paddle and they must have a whistle. If any racer is found on the water without their PFD, they will be disqualified from the race. Whistles will be included with each race packet.
Course marshals and emergency personnel will be staged throughtout the trail run and multiple safety boats and agencies will be spread along the river water in case of an emergency.

07:30am - 8:30am Packet Pick up and Check In, Kayak rental pickup, –5094 County Park Rd
08:30am - Pre-Race Stretch
08:45am - Runner Staging / Announcements
09:00am - Adventure Race Starts
09:20am – Adventure Racers start entering the river
10:00am – Adventure Racers start arriving at landing and shuttle back to park starts.
11:30am-2:00pm - Post Race Awards.

- Are there any age restrictions for any of the races? 10 or older only on 1st stage of relay team. 16 or Older for Individual Paddle or for second stage of relay and Adult must be Present, 12 or older for Tandem paddle with Adult.
- Race is rain or shine unless thunder/lightning/flooding/severe weather is forecasted.
